Fixed pairs or rotating partners?

Fixed pairs are simpler and fairer, and they are what Deuce ranks. A rung means something because the same two people earned it. Rotating partners produces a more sociable ladder and a standings table that cannot be defended: if you played with the best player in the band twice, your rung says more about them than about you. Rotating partners is roadmap here, not shipped.
