Deuce Ladder

Hitting partners

Find a tennis partner near you

To find a tennis partner near you, pick your city and read its open hits. No sign-in needed for that. Answer one of them, or post your own with a day, a start time and the level you are after, for singles or doubles. A hit is tennis outside the ladder, with no rung, no Deuce Points and no score to report. The board is free, and every city where Deuce runs a ladder has one.

Two players warming up with a soft rally from the service lines of a clay court, pines and a stone house behind the fence.

Cities

Pick a city to see its open hits. Anyone can read a board. You sign in to see who posted, to answer, or to post your own.

How a hit works

1. Post a time. Pick the day, the start time, how long you want to play and how many players you need: one for singles, up to three for doubles. Say the level you are after and whether you want to rally or play sets. A venue and a note are optional.

2. Players ask to join. Every answer reaches you by email, with the player's message if they wrote one. You accept or decline on the board. A doubles hit fills one spot per accepted player and closes when the last one goes.

3. Reply and play. Accepting emails the other player the details. A reply to that email reaches you directly, so the two of you settle the court and the balls without Deuce in the middle.

Privacy and safety

Anyone can read a board: the day, the time, the level, the format and the venue. Your name and your note show only to signed-in players.

Your email address never appears on the site. It travels by reply: the poster sees yours when they reply to your answer, and you see theirs when you reply to their acceptance. Section 4.6 of the privacy policy sets this out.

Hits are for players 18 and over, and both forms ask you to confirm it. If a player's behavior worries you, write to us through the contact form and pick the conduct reason. It goes to a person the same day, weekends included. Abuse and harassment on a hit can close an account, as they can on a ladder (the terms, sections 3.7 and 8.2).

Hits and the ladder

A hit does not count. Nothing about it reaches the standings, and nobody's rung moves. If you want a match to mean something, join the ladder in your city: you still pick who you play, and the result goes on the record. How a ladder works takes two minutes to read.

It works the other way too. A hit is a fair way to find out whether the player you are thinking of challenging is the level you think they are.

Other ways to find a partner

A board only helps if your city has one and somebody has posted. Club social sessions and leagues at your level are the other places to look. How to find a tennis partner who actually shows up ranks those two against four other routes, by how often each one leads to a regular match. It also has three short messages that take you from a first ask to a weekly game.

Partner guides by city

A city guide covers how players in one city find each other: the clubs, the public courts and their booking rules, the leagues, and that city's board.

Your city is not listed

Hitting partners run where Deuce runs a ladder. If your city is not on the list, ask for it through the contact form: pick the hitting partners reason and tell us the city and roughly how many players you know who would use it. A person reads every request, and they are how we decide where to open next.
