Where you would play
Bangkok's court stock is largely private, and that works in a ladder's favor.
Condominium courts
Most serviced condominiums have a court, free to residents and usually to a signed-in guest. For an expat ladder this is the cheapest court supply of any city on this list, and it removes the booking problem for a large share of matches.
Decide before the season starts whether home-court matches are allowed and who chooses the venue.
Clubs, hotels and sports complexes
Sports clubs, hotel courts and university facilities rent by the hour, generally floodlit, with some covered courts. Rates are low by international standards.
When you can play
Bangkok plays all year. The constraint is the hour and the rain, not the calendar.
November to February
is the cool season and the best tennis weather.
March to May
is the hot season, and it is genuinely severe. Midday singles is not advisable.
May to October
is the monsoon, with heavy but usually short afternoon and evening downpours.
In every month, the workable windows are early morning and after dark. Covered courts are what keep a rainy-season ladder moving, and a Bangkok ladder should permit a venue change without restarting the play window.
Recommended season length: ten weeks, starting in November.
How a ladder works here
The shared mechanics are the same in every city. What changes here is the format, and it changes because of the court slot.
Courts are rented by the hour and supply is not tight.
- Two hours booked. Best of three sets with a match tiebreak to ten in the third. The default in the cool season.
- One hour booked. An eight-game pro set, or short sets to four. The default from March to May.
The mechanics
These are the defaults. An organizer can change most of them when the ladder is set up.

Keep the play window at ten days. Court availability is good and the real scheduling risk here is weather, which a venue change solves.

Levels and where you start
No single amateur rating is in common use in Bangkok. Players describe their level in words, and the international community arrives carrying whatever rating their home country uses.
Deuce accepts whatever you have: NTRP, UTR, WTN, LTA rating, ITN, a national federation ranking, or a club level. All of them are optional. If you have none, describe your game and the system places you.
Two rules to know before you sign up:
- Low confidence places you high, not low. When we are unsure, you start at the top of the plausible range, never the middle and never the bottom. An underplaced player gets easy matches, which is the fastest way to ruin a ladder for everyone else.
- Your first challenge fixes it. One unrestricted challenge anywhere inside your band, played once, corrects a bad placement in a single match.

How competitive tennis is organized in Bangkok
Bangkok has an active adult tennis scene built almost entirely on private arrangement.
Condo and compound groups
are the base layer. Neighbors who play, organized by messaging app.
Clubs and hotel courts
run social sessions and occasional internal competition for members.
Coaching operations
produce players and social play, not standings.
What is missing
is a standing ranking that spans the city rather than one building. If you want that today, you are running it in a spreadsheet.

Start a ladder in Bangkok
For a club pro, a volunteer captain, a company team, or one person whose group chat has outgrown itself.
The application is eleven questions and takes about five minutes. You hear back within one business day, we set up a call within three, and once you have sent us names the ladder is built within two business days. First challenges usually go out inside two weeks of applying.
A person builds the ladder with you. There is no self-serve wizard.
You need ten players you can name. Twelve or more is where a ladder becomes self-sustaining, because that is the point at which the same two people stop playing each other every week. Under ten, tell us anyway and we will help you recruit rather than launch something thin.
If you already run a ladder in a spreadsheet, send it. A person does the parsing and you approve the result. It is not an instant import and we will not pretend it is.
