Tennis ladders in Bangkok

Ten players is enough to start a ladder. Below that we would rather tell you so than launch something that dies in three weeks.

Most of Bangkok's tennis courts are private. You rent them by the hour from a tennis center, buy a day pass at a sports club, book through a hotel's health club or play as a member. The city's own sports centers have tennis too, but its sports website turned away every check we ran, so those centers are described below and kept out of the table. Every row in it comes from the operator's own page.

Tennis courts in and around Bangkok

"Not listed" means the operator doesn't name a surface, and "Not stated" means its page doesn't say. The Peninsula quotes net prices, and Noah's include VAT. We checked every row against the operator's own page on October 7, 2026.

The short version: CozyTennis, Noah, Pyramid and First Serve rent to anyone by the hour, and RQ sells a day pass. The hotels cost the most. The clubs want you as a member first.

Public courts

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration runs 14 sports centers and 35 recreation centers, and tennis is one of the sports on offer. You book them in BKK Active, the city's app, which replaced CSTD Smart Member. Expect competition for slots: in February 2025 the city said many of its facilities were fully booked online every day. We couldn't open a city page with tennis fees, so none are quoted here.

The Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT), the national federation, also takes bookings for its courts at Muang Thong Thani, in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi. Register online as a Thai or foreign player. Courts for the next day open at 8 p.m. the day before, you cancel at least three hours ahead, and the federation can hold courts back for its own events.

Courts you rent by the hour

CozyTennis is at the end of Soi 46 off Chaloem Phrakiat Rama 9 Road, near Rama 9 Park, and the nearest BTS station is Udom Suk. Its four courts have a roof and lights, so sun and rain don't stop a match, and there's no membership fee. You message the club on LINE and pay to confirm the slot. At the desk, show the confirmation and walk on.

Noah Bkk@26 sits on Soi Atthakawee 1, at the end of Sukhumvit 26 near Rama 4 Road. Its four outdoor hard courts cost 600 baht an hour on weekdays before 5:30 p.m. and 650 baht after that and at weekends. The two indoor courts have artificial grass and air conditioning, and they cost 1,200 baht an hour at any time. It's open every day from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Pyramid Tennis, on Chalong Krung Road in Lat Krabang, has 13 courts, six of them indoor. Courts rent from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. It doesn't publish a rate, so ask on LINE before you book.

First Serve Sports Club is in Pak Kret, in Nonthaburi province. Its lit courts cost 200 baht an hour until 5 p.m. and 300 baht from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Outside coaches aren't allowed on a rented court.

RQ Sport's day pass

RQ Sport on Sukhumvit 49/9 has seven indoor courts and is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. It doesn't rent courts by the hour. A non-member buys a day pass for the whole club: 495 baht on a weekday, 595 baht at weekends. You reserve a court on the day, by phone or LINE from 7 a.m., at no charge. Booking further ahead costs extra, and a third no-show costs 500 baht. A free shuttle runs every hour to BTS Phrom Phong.

For two non-members, a weekday singles match at RQ comes to 990 baht. Members pay nothing extra.

Hotel courts

Hotel courts are the priciest in the table. Two riverside hotels publish rates. The Peninsula Bangkok rents its court through its fitness center for 1,200 baht net an hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 1,500 baht at other times, for up to four players. Shangri-La Bangkok charges Health Club members and outside guests 900 baht an hour until 6 p.m. and 1,100 baht until 10 p.m. Hotel guests get one free hour a day before 6 p.m.

Two central hotels have a court but no published rate. The Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom has one outdoor court and hires out rackets and balls. The Olympic Club at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel, in the MBK Center building, has one floodlit rooftop court on artificial grass, for hotel guests and club members.

Members' clubs and schools

The Royal Bangkok Sports Club on Henri Dunant Street has ten grass courts and six indoor hard courts. The hard courts open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and most grass courts open on weekday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. until dark. The British Club, at the end of Silom Soi 18, has four plexipave courts open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Members book at the poolside reception for 50 baht in daylight and 100 baht from 6 p.m. Both are members' clubs.

Bangkok Patana School, on Sukhumvit 105 in Bang Na, has eight covered courts and three outdoor ones at its sports complex. They serve the school's tennis academy, its students and their parents.

Condominium courts

If your building has a court, its rules decide who plays there. Check whether a resident may bring a guest before you offer it for a ladder match.

You can play in Bangkok all year. It just never gets cool. These figures are the Thai Meteorological Department's 1991 to 2020 normals for its Bangkok Metropolis station.

April is the hottest month, with a normal high of 35.7°C (96°F). September is the wettest, with 336 mm of rain (13 inches) on 21 days and about 11 days of thunderstorms. December is the driest. Across the year, May to October brings 86 percent of the rain.

For 2026, the department's outlook in May expected the rainy season to start in the third week of May and end around mid-October, with the heaviest rain in August and September. In those months a roofed or indoor court is what keeps a ladder match on. The 30-day play window leaves room to move a match that rain cancels.

The rules don't change in Bangkok, but the courts shape how you use them. Almost every court here is rented by the hour or by the day, so your booking sets how long a match can run.

The Bangkok ladder records best of three tiebreak sets, the platform default. That can run well past an hour, and the rules say it plainly: a one-hour slot is not best of three. Book two hours. At CozyTennis that comes to 700 baht by day, split however the two of you agree.

From March to October, get out early, play late under lights or go indoors. The challenger books the court unless you agree otherwise. When you accept, settle the court, the time and who pays.

The mechanics

Players who know ladders can stop at this table. These are the defaults: an organizer can change the challenge range, both windows and the rematch cooldown, but not the first challenge, the absence rule or the inactivity schedule.

Leaving town for a few weeks? Mark yourself absent for up to 21 days at a time. You keep your rung, and nobody can challenge you until you're back. The whole ruleset is on the rules page, and scoring covers how a result gets confirmed. Not sure what a rung or a level band is? See the glossary.

Bangkok has no common rating for adult club players. LTAT publishes national rankings every week, by age group from under 8 to under 18, plus men's singles and doubles lists marked ATP. None of them rates a club player.

Deuce works with NTRP, UTR, WTN or a club level, and you don't need any of them. No rating? Tell us how you play and we'll place you. Two rules decide where you land.

1. If we're unsure, you start higher. Somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4.0 means you start at 4.0. A player placed too low beats people they shouldn't be facing, and the rungs below pay for it.
2. Your first match corrects it. Your first challenge can go to anyone in your level band, so a wrong placement gets fixed the first time you play.

Organized tennis in Bangkok runs through the national federation and the members' clubs. Each is described below from its own page, as of October 7, 2026.

The Royal Bangkok Sports Club has a tennis section too, and members who want in are asked to contact its Sports Division. Outside the clubs, the organized tennis we came across is coaching. Noah, RQ, The Peninsula and Bangkok Patana all teach, and Noah's coaches are Japanese and Thai, but lessons don't produce standings.

None of the operators we checked runs a ladder open to the whole city. A Deuce ladder fills that gap, and it has no season. You challenge when you're ready. The other player has 5 days to answer, and an accepted match has 30 days to get played. The deadlines keep a challenge from stalling, though it's still the two of you who have to get on court.

Sometimes a ladder is the wrong tool. If you're a British Club member who wants a fixed group and an eight-week deadline, its singles league does that. If you want doubles with a regular crowd, the club Mix Ins are the place. For ranked tournaments, look at LTAT's calendar.

The city ladder is for singles players from anywhere in Bangkok. A smaller one works for a group that already shares something: residents of a building with a court, the regulars at RQ or Noah, a club section that wants singles between tournaments or a company team.

The application has ten questions and takes about five minutes. A person at Deuce reads each one and writes back only if something needs clarifying. Once it's approved, the ladder is live and players can join and send challenges the same day.

You need ten players you can name. Twelve or more works better, since a small group meets the same opponents again and again. Short of ten? Apply anyway, and we'll tell you if the group is too thin.

Running a ladder on paper or in a spreadsheet now? There's no import. Invite your players once you're approved, and the unrestricted first challenge sorts out the order.
