What do you do with players who join mid-season?

Let them in and place them at the bottom of their band, or seed them where their rating suggests and say so publicly. Both are defensible. What is not defensible is placing them by judgment, silently, one at a time, because the third such placement is the one somebody complains about. Publish the rule in week one and apply it the same way every time.
