Swap or points: which scoring system should a ladder use?
Deuce uses points on every ladder, and that part is not configurable. A confirmed result writes dated Deuce Points entries, and the live total orders the standings, so beating the player above you pays you instead of taking their rung.
Swap ladders are immediately legible, which is their real advantage. The cost is that they punish uneven availability and give a player returning from injury no route back except beating people one rung at a time. Points reward turning up, and the honest objection is that a busy 3.0 could outrank an absent 4.0. Two mechanics answer it: the activity cap, which limits participation points to 12 per 30 days, and 365-day expiry, which stops anyone banking a lead. Your organizer sets every point value, but not the model. How the points model works.
